Our Patient Participation Group





If you are interested in joining this group please inform our receptionist. Alternatively, please complete this form. This information will help us to make sure that we try to speak to a representative sample of the patients that are registered at this practice.


 We have Patient Participation Steering Group with 4 patient members, to ensure the widest possible patient participation all interested patients are encouraged to register their interest in the wider on-line Patient Participation Group that acts as a reference group for the consideration of issues that need to be tackled and have been identified as priorities by the Steering Group

  • advances new ideas and proposals for the Steering Group to progress in discussion with practice partners and management

All you need to do to become involved is to let the Practice Manager  know you are interested - make sure he has your contact details. You will then

  • be contacted automatically about all Open Meetings
  • be asked for your views on specific issues being considered by the Steering Group
  • be able to bring your ideas and concerns directly to the Steering Group for them to progress directly with practice partners and management

Camden Patient and Participation Group (CPPEG) is a body composed of elected members of practices’ Patient Participation Groups and nominated members of a number of key health concern groups in Camden. Its role is to give advice and guidance to the Camden Clinical Group (Camden CCG) from a patient perspective, and to ensure that there is patient involvement at the beginning and during the processes undertaken by Camden CCG. 



The group meets once every four months at Fortune Green.


PPG Meetings





The group has been running for two years and the practice has benefitted from the input of the group.


An agreed survey was carried out in January/February this year and the findings have been discussed with the patient group and are reported on below.  


Three major areas were identified from the survey for 2012/13..


1.  Nurse's room refurbishment and general improvement to the surgery premises.  This proved to be a popular move and patients ar benefitting from the improved treatment room, patient toilet facilities and general improvement of the practice.


2.  Expert patient information is prominently displayed in the practice in the hope of using the service more effectively. We are also working with this programme to ensure that a maximum number of patients use the facility.


3.  Our services, i.e. counsellor, research rojects and PPG are being more widely advertised.


4.  We are intending to open earlier on a Wednesday morning and the surgery is being moved to 9.00 am to satisfy demand.



Changes made in 2011/12


a. Telephone Consultations: most patients seemed to be unaware that telephone consultations were available. Patients should call the surgery as usual to make an appointment and request a ring back call from a GP at an appointed time.  Whilst every effort will be make to deal with the request over the telephone, on occasions the GP will ask the patient to come into the surgery.


We are presently advertising these consultations on our website, our patient leaflet, with an additional message on our telephone system, advertising in the surgery and putting a note with repeat prescriptions.


Our 0844 number is presently being transferred to a local 0207 number to ensure that no patient incurs an extra cost in contacting the surgery and we will keep patients informed about this process.


b. Awareness of facilities for patient with chronic diseases: patients were also unaware of the facilities in place to assist patients in coping with chronic diseases.  Over the next few months we plan to to the following:

  • To make use of the Expert Patient facility.  We met the Manager of Expert Patient Programme and several of our patients have joined the scheme. We are making all patients who might be able to make use of the facilities they provide aware of the scheme.
  • We are to encourage the use of DXX which an informative service attached to our medical software. Patients can request leaflets and information at any time from all members of staff.
  • Ensure that information available in the surgery on chronic diseases is to hand and easy to access.
  • Arrange inter-practice discussions and activities.
  • To arrange open talks -  evening out at one of the practices.

 d.  New floors:


We have recently replaced most of the carpet area with laminated wood, giving a much cleaner and sharper look to the premises.  As yet the lino floor in the nurse/treatment room has not been renewed as we are looking into appropriate flooring approved by the infection control authorities.

The group is planning on meeting once every four months, alternating between Fortune Green and the wider cluster of the four local practices.
