The Practice is part of a research cluster and we are involved in several different projects throughout the year. 









The Practice charges, according to current BMA guidelines, for the signing of  driving licence applications, pre-employment medicals, medicals for HGV licences and various other services. The Practice Manager can advise you of these charges.


Private Referrals


Our procedure for processing private referral, summarized below, is different to NHS referral:

  • A referral letter will be ready for you for collection one week after seeing your doctor, unless medically urgent, which will be made clear to you at your consultation.
  •  A fee is payable if you wish your GP to complete a private health insurance claim form.
  • You doctor will only complete a private insurance claim form if you he/she has referred you before you see a consultant.

Ante-natal and Post-natal Care


This care is shared with the hospital but outlined below is information of how we can help you at this practice:


Role of the GP

Shared care with hospital ante-natal department. The GP provides post natal care, six week check-up and contraceptive advice. Queries, questions or worries are dealt with by the GP or nurse.


Role of the Practice Nurse

Any queries, questions or worries regarding your ante-natal care can also be addressed by the Practice Nurse, including keeping a check on your blood pressure recording between visits to the mid-wife. The same applies to post-natal questions and the nurse can also give you advice on feeding, contraception and mother/baby well-being.


Role of the Hospital Clinics

The staff at the hospital clinics provides ante-natal care, blood tests, scans, blood pressure recordings, discussion regarding method of delivery and advice about complications in pregnancy.


Role of the Community Midwife

The Community Midwife shares ante-natal care with the hospital.


Role of Health Visitor

After you are discharged from hospital, the Health Visitor at your local mother/baby clinic will give advice on child health and mother/baby well-being.


Role of the Community Nurse

The Community Nurse cares for the long-term illnesses and house-bound patients in their homes and referrals can be made through the surgery.
